NeuroVir Therapeutics was a private oncology-focused biotechnology company that developed modified herpes simplex virus vectors as oncolytic cancer therapeutics. The company operated in Vancouver, British Columbia and San Diego, California, and advanced two clinical-stage programs for glioblastoma and colorectal cancer metastatic to the liver. NeuroVir's core capability was an HSV-based oncolytic virus platform designed to selectively attack tumor tissue. In late 2000 and early 2001, the company was acquired by MediGene in a stock-for-stock transaction, and its programs and platform were folded into MediGene's oncology portfolio.
