Neutec Pharma was a specialized biopharmaceutical company based in Manchester, UK, focused on developing recombinant human antibodies to treat life-threatening hospital-acquired infections. The company utilized its proprietary "Grabbane" technology to produce antibody fragments that targeted specific pathogens, including fungi and drug-resistant bacteria. Its lead product candidates were Mycograb, designed for invasive candidiasis, and Aurograb, developed for the treatment of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Founded by Professor James Burnie and Professor Ruth Matthews from the University of Manchester, the company successfully transitioned from an academic spin-out to a public entity on the London Stock Exchange's AIM. In 2006, Neutec was acquired by Novartis for approximately $569 million to strengthen its portfolio in the infectious disease space.
