Nevera is a Hong Kong-based biotechnology company focused on developing transformative therapies for neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's disease. The company was co-founded by Professor Nancy Ip, a world-renowned neuroscientist and President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). Nevera's research centers on the IL-33/ST2 signaling pathway, which plays a crucial role in the brain's immune response and the clearance of amyloid-beta plaques. Its lead program utilizes an adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector to deliver agents that neutralize soluble ST2, a decoy receptor that is elevated in Alzheimer's patients and inhibits beneficial immune activity.
