New Mexico Health Connections

New Mexico Health Connections (NMHC) was a physician-led, non-profit health insurance company established as a Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan (CO-OP) under the Affordable Care Act. Based in Albuquerque, the organization focused on providing integrated, community-based healthcare coverage to individuals and small businesses across New Mexico. NMHC emphasized preventive care and worked closely with local provider networks to manage costs and improve health outcomes. In 2017, the company reached an agreement to transition its commercial business to True Health New Mexico, a subsidiary of Evolent Health, following financial challenges common to the ACA CO-OP program.
