New Parkway Hospital

New Parkway Hospital was a private, for-profit community hospital located in Forest Hills, Queens, New York. Originally established as Parkway Hospital in 1963, the facility provided comprehensive medical, surgical, and emergency services to the surrounding community for over four decades. The hospital became a focal point of healthcare restructuring in New York during the mid-2000s when it was ordered to close by the New York State Commission on Health Care Facilities in the 21st Century, also known as the Berger Commission. Despite significant legal and political efforts to remain operational, the hospital filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. New Parkway Hospital officially ceased all operations in November 2008, marking the end of its service as a local healthcare provider. The site has since been the subject of various redevelopment proposals for residential use.
