New River Management V is a life sciences-focused venture capital fund managed by Third Security, LLC, an investment firm led by Randal J. Kirk. Established in 2007, the fund served as a primary investment vehicle for Kirk's activities in the biotechnology sector following the sale of New River Pharmaceuticals to Shire. The fund held significant positions in several prominent biotech companies, including Halozyme Therapeutics, Intrexon Corporation (now Precigen), and Clinical Data. New River Management V was part of a series of 'New River' funds and was liquidated in 2017 after completing its investment lifecycle.
