Nexell Therapeutics

Nexell Therapeutics was a biotechnology company specializing in the development of cell therapy products and cell separation technologies. The company was best known for its Isolex 300i Magnetic Cell Selection System, an automated device designed to isolate CD34+ stem cells for use in bone marrow and blood cell transplants. Originally formed as a joint venture between Baxter International and Somatix Therapy Corp, Nexell targeted indications such as non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and multiple myeloma. Despite obtaining FDA approval for its core technology, the company struggled with the commercial viability of high-dose chemotherapy treatments. In 2002, Nexell ceased operations and liquidated its assets, with Baxter International acquiring the rights to the Isolex product line.
