NextSafety was a biotechnology and medical device company specializing in advanced pulmonary drug delivery systems. The company developed the NextSafety Aerosol Technology (NSAT), a platform designed to generate sub-micron particles for highly efficient delivery of therapeutics to the deep lung. Its pipeline included inhaled versions of established drugs such as albuterol for respiratory distress, insulin for diabetes, and fentanyl for rapid pain relief. Despite the technical potential of its aerosol platform, the company's progress was halted by a major federal investigation into its financial practices. NextSafety is now defunct following the conviction of its founder for a multi-million dollar securities fraud scheme.
