Company intelligence / Profile preview
Nichols Institute Diagnostics (NID) was a specialized medical diagnostics company that developed, manufactured, and marketed advanced test kits for the global clinical laboratory market. The company was particularly renowned for its leadership in endocrinology, specifically for its pioneering work in parathyroid hormone (PTH) testing and bone metabolism markers. Originally the manufacturing arm of the Nichols Institute, it became a subsidiary of Quest Diagnostics following the acquisition of its parent company. NID's products utilized sophisticated technologies such as chemiluminescence and immunoradiometric assays (IRMA) to provide high-sensitivity results for complex hormonal disorders. Quest Diagnostics eventually ceased the operations of the NID manufacturing unit in 2006.
