NID Therapeutics

NID Therapeutics was a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing novel therapies for metabolic disorders characterized by excessive insulin secretion. The company's lead program, avexitide (formerly NID-01), is a selective glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor antagonist. This therapeutic candidate was designed to treat rare conditions such as congenital hyperinsulinism (HI) and post-bariatric hypoglycemia (PBH). The technology originated from research conducted at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. In September 2015, NID Therapeutics was acquired by Eiger BioPharmaceuticals. Following the acquisition, the development of avexitide continued under Eiger's leadership, reaching late-stage clinical trials.
