Company intelligence / Profile preview
Nikko Cordial Corporation was a prominent Japanese financial services group and the holding company for Nikko Cordial Securities, which was one of Japan's largest brokerages. The company provided a broad array of financial products and services, including retail and corporate brokerage, investment banking, and asset management. While not a biotechnology company itself, Nikko Cordial was active in the healthcare sector through investment vehicles such as the Nikko Rockefeller Healthcare Strategy Fund, which targeted global healthcare and life science equities. Following an accounting scandal and subsequent acquisition by Citigroup in 2008, its core operations were sold to Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMFG) in 2009 and reorganized into SMBC Nikko Securities.
