Nikko Principal Investments was the private equity arm of the Japanese financial services group Nikko Cordial Corporation. The firm specialized in mid-to-large market investments, management buyouts, and corporate restructurings, maintaining a significant presence in the healthcare and life sciences sectors. One of its most prominent transactions was the 2002 acquisition of the Priory Group, a major UK provider of mental health and rehabilitation services, for approximately £875 million. Following Citigroup's acquisition of Nikko Cordial in 2007, the firm's operations were integrated into Citigroup's global investment platforms.
