Company intelligence / Profile preview
Nippon Ciba-Geigy was the Japanese subsidiary of the Swiss life sciences giant Ciba-Geigy, established to manage the development and commercialization of pharmaceuticals and chemicals in the Japanese market. The company was a major provider of innovative therapies in Japan, particularly in the fields of cardiovascular health, rheumatology, and neurology. In 1996, following the global merger between Ciba-Geigy and Sandoz, Nippon Ciba-Geigy merged with Sandoz's Japanese operations to form Novartis Pharma K.K. This merger created one of the largest pharmaceutical entities in Japan, integrating a vast portfolio of primary care and specialty medicines. Today, the legacy of Nippon Ciba-Geigy continues through Novartis's extensive research and commercial presence in the region.
