Company intelligence / Profile preview
NiTi Surgical Solutions was an Israeli medical device company that pioneered the use of Nitinol shape-memory alloys for surgical applications. The company developed the Bio-Compression Anastomosis Ring (CAR) and the ColonRing, which provided a sutureless and staple-free method for joining tissue in gastrointestinal surgeries. These devices utilize constant pressure to create a secure, leak-resistant connection while promoting natural healing. By eliminating the need for traditional staples, the technology aimed to reduce the risk of anastomotic leaks and other post-operative complications. In 2012, the company was acquired by Medtronic for approximately $70 million, integrating its innovative compression technology into Medtronic's surgical stapling and GI product lines.
