Nitor Therapeutics

Nitor Therapeutics is a pre-clinical stage biotechnology company based in Cleveland, Ohio, that has historically operated in two distinct areas of high-impact medical research. The company was originally founded by Dr. Vincent Tuohy to develop prophylactic vaccines for breast and ovarian cancers, assets which were later licensed to Anixa Biosciences for clinical development. More recently, the Nitor Therapeutics name has been associated with a platform co-founded by Dr. Jonathan Stamler and Dr. Stuart Lipton focused on modulating S-nitrosylation (SNO) signaling. This platform targets the 'SNO-proteome' to address neurodegenerative diseases, with a lead focus on inhibiting the aberrant S-nitrosylation of Dynamin-related protein 1 (Drp1) to treat Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.
