Company intelligence / Profile preview
Nobex was a biopharmaceutical company based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, specializing in the oral delivery of peptide and protein therapeutics. The company developed a proprietary drug delivery platform that utilized site-specific, covalent attachment of low-molecular-weight polymers to drugs, enhancing their stability and absorption through the intestinal wall. Its most prominent program was IN-105, an oral insulin analog developed in partnership with the Indian biotechnology firm Biocon. Despite promising clinical data, Nobex faced significant financial challenges and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in late 2005. In 2006, Biocon acquired the intellectual property and assets of Nobex to continue the development of the oral insulin and oral calcitonin programs.
