Nocturol

Serenity Pharmaceuticals, originally founded as Nocturol, was a specialty biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing therapies for urological conditions. The company's flagship product, Noctiva (desmopressin acetate) nasal spray, achieved a significant milestone in 2017 as the first FDA-approved treatment for adults with nocturia caused by nocturnal polyuria. Serenity's innovation centered on a low-dose, emulsified formulation of desmopressin that allowed for effective treatment while minimizing the risk of hyponatremia. Despite the clinical success and regulatory approval of Noctiva, the company faced significant commercial challenges and legal disputes with its partners. Serenity Pharmaceuticals ultimately filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2020, leading to the liquidation of its assets and intellectual property.
