Company intelligence / Profile preview
Norcliff Thayer was a prominent American consumer healthcare company that specialized in the marketing and distribution of over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceutical products. The company was widely recognized for its portfolio of household brands, including Tums antacids, Oxy acne treatments, and Liquiprin pediatric analgesics. Originally formed as a subsidiary of Revlon's healthcare division, Norcliff Thayer established a significant presence in the retail pharmacy and grocery sectors during the 1970s and 1980s. In 1985, the company was acquired by the Beecham Group as part of a strategic divestiture by Revlon. Its legacy brands were subsequently integrated into the portfolios of SmithKline Beecham and later GSK, with some brands eventually being divested to other consumer health entities.
