Norsk Medisinsk Syklotronsenter (NMS) is a specialized radiopharmaceutical production and research facility located at Oslo University Hospital, Rikshospitalet. The center operates a cyclotron and a GMP-certified laboratory to produce short-lived positron-emitting radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticals, primarily for Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging. NMS serves as a critical supplier of PET tracers like [18F]FDG to hospitals across Norway and supports extensive clinical research in oncology, neurology, and cardiology. It is owned by Oslo University Hospital, the University of Oslo, and Akershus University Hospital, functioning as a hub for both routine clinical diagnostics and the development of novel imaging agents. The facility is essential for the Norwegian healthcare system as it provides isotopes with half-lives too short for international transport.
