Company intelligence / Profile preview
Northland Medical Pharmacy was a prominent community-based specialty pharmacy located in Columbus, Ohio, that specialized in the distribution and clinical management of high-cost medications for chronic and complex diseases. Founded in 1965, the company focused on therapeutic areas such as HIV/AIDS, oncology, multiple sclerosis, and organ transplantation. In October 2005, Northland was acquired by BioScrip, Inc. for approximately $12 million to expand BioScrip's community-based specialty pharmacy model. The pharmacy provided comprehensive services including insurance coordination, patient education, and adherence monitoring to optimize clinical outcomes. Following its acquisition, the business was eventually integrated into Walgreens after BioScrip divested its community pharmacy segment in 2012. During its peak, Northland was recognized for its specialized expertise in handling biotech injectable and infusible therapies.
