NovaMin

NovaMin Technology Inc. was a specialty medical device company focused on the development and commercialization of bioactive glass technology for oral care and regenerative medicine. The company's core technology, NovaMin (calcium sodium phosphosilicate), was originally developed for bone regeneration but was successfully pivoted to treat dentin hypersensitivity by forming a hydroxyapatite-like layer over exposed dentin. In 2010, the company was acquired by GSK for $135 million, leading to the integration of NovaMin technology into the Sensodyne Repair & Protect product line. The technology remains a gold standard in the treatment of tooth sensitivity and is used in various professional and consumer dental products globally.
