Novocastra Laboratories

Novocastra Laboratories was a UK-based developer and manufacturer of antibodies and related reagents for immunohistochemistry and other biomedical research and pathology applications. The company became known for its Novocastra-branded primary antibodies and ancillary staining reagents used in anatomic pathology and laboratory diagnostics. It no longer appears to operate as an independent brand-owner company name, having been renamed Leica Biosystems Newcastle Limited, while the Novocastra brand continues within Leica Biosystems' IHC/ISH product portfolio. Its business focus is therefore best characterized as commercial diagnostics and life science tools rather than therapeutic drug development. The company is healthcare-related, but not a biotech drug pipeline company.
