Overview
Nowicky Pharma produces Ukrain (also called celandine), a semi-synthetic substance derived from the plant Chelidonium majus (greater celandine). The drug has been approved in Belarus since February 1996, but has been prohibited from being imported, manufactured, and marketed in Austria due to lack of proven efficacy, quality, and safety. According to the company, Ukrain accumulates in cancer cells within minutes after administration and triggers apoptosis in cancer cells while leaving healthy cells undamaged at therapeutic doses.
