NPS BioTherapeutics was a biopharmaceutical company established in 2004 as a joint venture between Cerberus Capital Management and Ampersand Ventures. The entity was created specifically to facilitate the acquisition of Bayer HealthCare's global plasma products business and Precision Pharma Services. Shortly after the completion of the acquisition in early 2005, the company was rebranded as Talecris Biotherapeutics. The company focused on the development, manufacture, and marketing of plasma-derived and recombinant therapies for rare and life-threatening conditions in immunology, pulmonology, and hematology. Talecris was subsequently acquired by Grifols in 2011 for approximately $3.4 billion.
