Company intelligence / Profile preview
N-TRON (often stylized as N-Tron) was a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery and development of small molecule therapeutics for neurodegenerative disorders, with a primary focus on Huntington's Disease (HD). The company's research platform was built around understanding the role of N-terminal fragments of the huntingtin protein in disease progression and identifying modulators of neurotoxic pathways. N-TRON's pipeline included inhibitors of histone deacetylases (HDACs) and kynurenine 3-monooxygenase (KMO), which were designed to address the underlying mechanisms of neurodegeneration. In 2004, N-TRON was acquired by the Italian biotechnology firm Siena Biotech, which integrated N-TRON's programs into its central nervous system (CNS) portfolio to advance clinical-stage candidates for HD.
