Nuclear Medicine Research Infrastructure (NuMeRI) is a South African not-for-profit company and world-class medical imaging and theranostics facility. Housed at the Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Pretoria, NuMeRI operates as a one-stop-shop dedicated to drug development, preclinical imaging, and clinical research. The institute consolidates expertise in nuclear technologies, offering advanced diagnostic and therapeutic solutions, particularly in oncology (such as prostate cancer) and infectious diseases like tuberculosis and malaria. NuMeRI features state-of-the-art infrastructure, including cyclotrons and GMP radiopharmacy facilities, to support both academic researchers and commercial pharmaceutical partners in translating molecular tracers from laboratory to clinical trials.
