Nuclear Power Institute of China

The Nuclear Power Institute of China (NPIC), a core subsidiary of the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), is the leading comprehensive research and design base for nuclear power and medical isotopes in China. In the healthcare sector, NPIC is a primary developer and producer of therapeutic and diagnostic radioisotopes, operating high-flux engineering test reactors to provide critical supply chains for oncology and nuclear medicine. The institute is currently spearheading the construction of a world-scale medical isotope production base in Sichuan Province, aimed at achieving domestic self-sufficiency in isotopes such as Carbon-14, Iodine-131, Lutetium-177, and Molybdenum-99. Beyond isotope production, NPIC develops advanced medical equipment, including SPECT/CT imaging systems and Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) facilities, positioning it as a pivotal player in the growth of China's radiopharmaceutical and targeted radiotherapy industries.
