Company intelligence / Profile preview
Oceana Therapeutics was a privately held specialty pharmaceutical company focused on acquiring, developing, and commercializing late-stage and FDA-approved products in gastroenterology, colorectal, and urology. The company launched operations in 2008 and built a portfolio centered on Solesta for fecal incontinence and Deflux for vesicoureteral reflux. Rather than operating as a discovery-stage biotech, Oceana emphasized commercialization of marketed and late-stage specialty therapeutics and related medical products. In November 2011, Salix Pharmaceuticals agreed to acquire Oceana for $300 million in cash, and the business ceased operating independently thereafter.
