Company intelligence / Profile preview
Ocularis Pharma was a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing therapies for ophthalmic indications. The company's lead product candidate, Nyxol (phentolamine mesylate), is a preservative-free eye drop formulation designed to reduce pupil size by inhibiting the iris dilator muscle. Ocularis targeted several eye conditions, including the reversal of pharmacologically-induced mydriasis, night vision disturbances, and presbyopia. In 2020, Ocularis Pharma merged with Ocuphire Pharma to advance its late-stage ophthalmic pipeline. The lead asset, Nyxol, eventually received FDA approval in 2023 under the brand name Ryzumvi for the reversal of mydriasis.
