Oculentis

Oculentis was a private ophthalmic medical device company focused on the design, manufacture, and commercialization of premium intraocular lenses for cataract and refractive surgery. The company operated R&D activities in Berlin and manufacturing in Eerbeek, the Netherlands, and was known for its LENTIS family of intraocular lenses, including multifocal, toric, and presbyopia-correcting products. Oculentis positioned itself as an independent IOL manufacturer with proprietary lens designs such as the rotationally asymmetric LENTIS Mplus platform. The company encountered major legal and product-safety issues related to certain lenses and entered bankruptcy proceedings in the Netherlands in September 2021. Its product franchise and personnel were subsequently associated in the market with Teleon Surgical, but the available evidence does not support characterizing Oculentis itself as an acquired company.
