Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a 90,000-acre non-profit wildlife conservancy and life sciences hub located in Laikipia, Kenya. It serves as the largest sanctuary for black rhinos in East Africa and is the global home to the last two remaining northern white rhinos. The organization is a primary site for the BioRescue project, an international biotech consortium using advanced assisted reproductive technologies to save the northern white rhino from extinction. This work involves complex procedures such as oocyte collection, in vitro fertilization (IVF), and the development of primordial germ cells from stem cells. Beyond its biotech initiatives, Ol Pejeta operates a successful model of integrated conservation that combines wildlife protection with sustainable livestock ranching and community development.
