Oncascan

Oncascan was a UK-based medical diagnostics company and a spin-out from the University of Bradford. The company focused on developing the Lymphocyte Genome Sensitivity (LGS) test, a non-invasive blood test designed to detect various types of cancer by measuring the sensitivity of white blood cells to ultraviolet (UVA) radiation. The technology aimed to provide a 'universal' cancer screening tool that could identify patients who do not have cancer with high certainty, potentially reducing the need for invasive procedures like colonoscopies and biopsies. Oncascan received significant funding from SBRI Healthcare and Innovate UK to automate its diagnostic system and conduct clinical evaluations in colorectal and prostate cancer. The company was dissolved in 2018.
