Company intelligence / Profile preview
OneCell Systems was a biotechnology company specializing in single-cell analysis and high-throughput screening technologies. The company is best known for its proprietary Gel Microdrop (GMD) technology, which encapsulates individual cells in microscopic agarose beads to enable the measurement of secreted products and cell surface markers. This platform allowed researchers to use standard flow cytometry to identify and isolate rare cells based on functional characteristics, such as protein secretion or specific enzyme activity. The technology was widely applied in the selection of high-producing cell lines for monoclonal antibody production and the study of immune cell responses. OneCell Systems was acquired by Cytonome in 2008, integrating its microencapsulation capabilities into Cytonome's advanced cell sorting platforms.
