Company intelligence / Profile preview
ONI Medical Systems was a medical technology company specializing in the development and marketing of dedicated-purpose musculoskeletal MRI systems. Founded in 1997 and headquartered in Wilmington, Massachusetts, the company focused on high-field, low-cost extremity MRI scanners like the MSK Extreme and OrthOne, which allowed for high-quality imaging of joints while the patient remained outside the bore. These systems were designed to be compact and cost-effective, making them suitable for orthopedic practices and imaging centers to reduce patient backlogs. In 2009, ONI Medical Systems was acquired by GE Healthcare to expand its magnetic resonance imaging portfolio.
