Ontellus is a U.S. health-data workflow and records retrieval company that serves insurance carriers, law firms, TPAs, providers, and self-insured organizations. The company focuses on secure retrieval, organization, analysis, and exchange of medical and related records used in claims, litigation, underwriting, and case review workflows. Founded in 1975 as Keais Records Retrieval and rebranded as Ontellus in 2017, it built a national, technology-enabled platform for records retrieval, medical canvassing, and claims intelligence. In 2025, Datavant announced the acquisition of Ontellus, and Ontellus now operates as part of Datavant’s Legal & Insurance vertical. Its offerings include record retrieval, document management, intelligent analysis, and connected data exchange rather than therapeutic drug development.
