Company intelligence / Profile preview
OpenView, commonly referred to as OpenView Venture Partners, was a Boston-based expansion-stage venture capital firm focused primarily on software and SaaS companies rather than life sciences or healthcare. The firm was founded in 2006 by Scott Maxwell and became known for backing growth-stage technology companies including Datadog, Expensify, Instructure, and Kareo. OpenView promoted an "Expansion Platform" model that paired capital with operating support in areas such as hiring, pricing, go-to-market execution, and executive recruiting. Although the OpenView website remained accessible and continued to describe the firm and its portfolio, multiple reports indicated the firm wound down operations and stopped making new investments in late 2023. As a result, OpenView is best characterized as a venture capital firm and not a biotech, pharma, healthcare, CRO, or therapeutics company.
