Its proprietary "Smart Dosing System" (SDS) is a cutting-edge platform designed to deliver active ingredients directly through the oral mucosa, bypassing gastrointestinal absorption and reducing side effects. OPES is utilizing this platform to develop NRT001, a nicotine buccal film for nicotine replacement therapy, which is currently in Phase 1 clinical development. The company's Salo facility includes an FSSC 22000 certified food factory and a GMP-certified pharmaceutical facility approved by the Finnish Medicines Agency (Fimea) in late 2022.
