OpHeart is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the outcomes of children born with life-threatening congenital heart defects (CHD). The organization's primary initiative, the Heart-in-Hand program, utilizes advanced 3D printing technology to create anatomically precise models of a patient's heart derived from MRI and CT scans. These models allow pediatric heart surgeons to physically manipulate and practice complex procedures before entering the operating room, which can significantly reduce surgical time and improve precision. By providing these tools, OpHeart aims to standardize the use of 3D modeling in pediatric cardiac care and ensure that every child has access to the best possible surgical preparation regardless of their hospital's internal resources.
