Ophthalmos Research and Educational Institute is a Cyprus-based biotechnology research and clinical center specializing in advanced ophthalmology. Founded and led by Dr. Tassos Georgiou, the institute has pioneered the development of Eyetas, an internationally patented oral therapy utilizing pharmaceutical-grade, high-dose EPA-rich omega-3 fatty acids to treat retinal degenerations. Its clinical research, notably the MADEOS multicenter study, has demonstrated significant vision improvements in patients with dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and Stargardt disease by reducing the blood arachidonic acid to eicosapentaenoic acid (AA/EPA) ratio.
