Ophthonix

Ophthonix was a medical technology company that specialized in advanced vision correction through its proprietary wavefront-guided technology platform. The company's primary innovation was the Z-View Aberrometer, a diagnostic device that measured both low- and high-order aberrations to create a unique 'optical fingerprint' of the human eye. This data was used to produce iZon High Resolution Lenses, which were customized spectacle lenses designed to provide superior optical clarity, improved night vision, and enhanced contrast sensitivity. Headquartered in Vista, California, Ophthonix operated its own manufacturing facility to fabricate these personalized lenses for the optometry and ophthalmology markets. Despite raising significant venture capital and achieving commercial distribution, the company faced financial difficulties during the economic downturn. Ophthonix officially ceased all operations in October 2012 after failing to secure additional funding.
