OPKO Renal

OPKO Renal is a specialized division of OPKO Health focused on developing and commercializing products for the treatment and management of endocrine and metabolic disorders, specifically targeting chronic kidney disease (CKD). The division's flagship product is Rayaldee (calcifediol), an extended-release formulation designed to treat secondary hyperparathyroidism in adults with stage 3 or 4 CKD and low vitamin D levels. OPKO Renal was significantly expanded through the acquisition of Cytochroma in 2013, which provided the core technology for its renal pipeline. The company continues to explore expanded indications for its vitamin D analogs, including applications for patients with stage 5 CKD on dialysis.
