Company intelligence / Profile preview
Optimal Renal Care (ORC) was a specialized healthcare services company founded in 1999 as a joint venture between Fresenius Medical Care and Kaiser Permanente. The company was a pioneer in renal disease management, focusing on providing integrated care for patients suffering from chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD). ORC utilized proprietary clinical protocols and data-driven interventions to delay the progression of renal failure and optimize the transition to dialysis. Its business model aimed to improve clinical outcomes while reducing the total cost of care for health plans and providers. In 2004, Fresenius Medical Care acquired the remaining interest in the company, fully integrating its disease management expertise into the Fresenius Medical Care North America division.
