OptoForce

OptoForce was a Hungarian robotics technology company that developed innovative multi-axis force and torque sensors, providing industrial and medical robots with a human-like "sense of touch." Founded in 2012 as a spinoff from Pázmány Péter Catholic University, the company utilized a proprietary optical-based sensing technology that offered superior durability and sensitivity compared to traditional strain-gauge sensors. Its products, such as the HEX-E and HEX-H 6-axis sensors, were widely adopted in high-precision applications including surgical robotics, laboratory automation, and non-invasive medical diagnostics like continuous blood pressure monitoring. In June 2018, OptoForce was acquired by the Danish company OnRobot in a strategic merger aimed at consolidating leading end-of-arm tooling technologies for the collaborative robot (cobot) market.
