Orchard Innovations is a private translational drug development company created in 2020 through a collaboration between Deerfield affiliates and Yeda, the technology transfer arm of the Weizmann Institute of Science. The company funds and advances therapeutic research emerging from Weizmann laboratories with the goal of moving programs through drug discovery and development toward IND readiness. Orchard Innovations is not a single-product biotech with a publicly disclosed clinical pipeline; instead, it operates as a venture-style engine to identify, support, and help develop novel medicines across multiple therapeutic areas, including difficult-to-treat and rare diseases. Deerfield committed up to $130 million over 10 years to support the initiative and provides operational, managerial, and development expertise alongside funding. The company appears to function primarily as an early-stage portfolio builder and translational platform rather than a commercial-stage therapeutic company.
