Company intelligence / Profile preview
Ordway Research Institute was a non-profit medical research organization based in Albany, New York, dedicated to advancing drug discovery and development. Established in 2002, the institute focused on oncology, cardiovascular disease, and infectious diseases, with a notable emphasis on the role of thyroid hormones in cancer cell signaling. A key area of their research involved the development of tetraiodothyroacetic acid (tetrac) and its nanoparticulate forms as inhibitors of angiogenesis and tumor growth via the integrin alpha-v beta-3 receptor. The institute operated as a hub for biotechnology in New York's Capital Region until it encountered severe financial challenges. In 2011, Ordway Research Institute filed for bankruptcy and subsequently liquidated its assets, leading to its permanent closure.
