Company intelligence / Profile preview
Oread Laboratories was a contract research organization (CRO) and pharmaceutical development company headquartered in Lawrence, Kansas. Founded in 1984 by Dr. Takeru Higuchi, a pioneer in physical pharmacy, the company provided a wide range of services to the global pharmaceutical industry. Its core competencies included analytical chemistry, formulation development, bioanalytical testing, and the manufacturing of clinical trial materials. The company expanded significantly in the 1990s, operating facilities in California and North Carolina and becoming a publicly traded entity on the NASDAQ. Despite its technical expertise, Oread faced severe financial challenges and management turnover in the late 1990s, ultimately filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2000.
