Orex Computed Radiography

Orex Computed Radiography was a pioneering developer of compact, distributed computed radiography (CR) systems used for digital X-ray imaging. Founded in 1996 and headquartered in Yokneam, Israel, the company specialized in tabletop CR readers that allowed clinics and specialty practices to transition from film-based X-rays to digital workflows without the need for large, centralized systems. Its product line, including the PcCR and ACL series, served diverse markets such as orthopedics, dentistry, and military medicine. The company's "Distributed CR" (D-CR) approach made digital imaging more accessible to smaller facilities by providing high-quality images in a small footprint. In 2005, Orex was acquired by Eastman Kodak Company for approximately $51.3 million to bolster its Health Group's digital imaging portfolio. Following Kodak's divestiture of its health division in 2007, Orex's technology and operations were integrated into Carestream Health.
