Orifice Medical was a Swedish medical technology company that specialized in the development and commercialization of innovative devices for the treatment of epistaxis, or nosebleeds. The company's flagship product, the Stas nasal packing device, was designed to provide a more effective and comfortable solution for patients compared to traditional nasal tampons. Headquartered in Ystad, Sweden, Orifice Medical focused on addressing unmet needs in the ear, nose, and throat (ENT) and emergency medicine markets. The Stas device featured a unique design that allowed for easy insertion and removal while maintaining consistent pressure to achieve hemostasis. In April 2013, Orifice Medical was acquired by Stryker Corporation, a major global medical technology firm. The acquisition integrated Orifice Medical's nasal packing technology into Stryker's ENT business unit, expanding their portfolio of surgical and emergency care products.
