Origenix

Origenix Technologies was a Montreal-based biopharmaceutical company specializing in the discovery and development of nucleic acid-based therapeutics. The company's primary focus was on antisense oligonucleotides designed to treat viral infections, most notably human papillomavirus (HPV) and herpes simplex virus (HSV). Its lead clinical candidate, ORI-1001, was an antisense drug developed for the topical treatment of external genital warts and reached Phase 2 clinical trials. In 2004, the company was acquired by Migenix Inc. for approximately $6.4 million in an all-stock transaction. The acquisition integrated Origenix's antisense platform and viral targets into Migenix's broader anti-infective portfolio.
