Company intelligence / Profile preview
Ostex International was a Seattle-based biotechnology company that specialized in the development and commercialization of diagnostic products for the management of bone diseases, particularly osteoporosis. The company is best known for its proprietary Osteomark NTx test, which measures the excretion of cross-linked N-telopeptides of type I collagen to assess bone resorption rates. This technology provided clinicians with a non-invasive method to monitor the effectiveness of antiresorptive therapies and identify patients at risk for rapid bone loss. Founded in 1989, Ostex was a pioneer in the field of biochemical bone markers before being acquired by Inverness Medical Innovations in 2003. Its technology remains a significant component of the bone health diagnostic market under subsequent owners.
